See What’s New in SAS® Viya® Workbench
- New Python packages for cardinality, computer vision and GMM: We are thrilled to announce a second batch of Python packages for SAS Viya Workbench users! Cardinality and GMM are both longstanding SAS routines and can now be leveraged using scikit-learn-inspired syntax in Python. If you’ve tried the existing SAS Viya.ML package, we know you will feel right at home.
In case you didn’t know, SAS has a rich history of delivering computer vision solutions. We have made these same analytics available in Python! Click here to learn more about using the Computer Vision Python API in Viya Workbench.
- Deep learning enabled for SAS users: The SAS implementation of DLModelZoo (proc dlmodelzoo) is now available for all users in Viya Workbench. Background Job Submission remains on our product roadmap for now, but we hope you’ll have the chance to leverage pre-processing and SAS scoring in the near term. DL model training will be a better experience when you can submit the job and close your browser.
- AWS cross-region support: New Viya Workbench installations will now support cross-region PrivateLink connections, which means that you can select your preferred AWS region when deploying your infrastructure. For example, customers in the western United States can select US-West-1 as their data plane location, and it will connect to the US-East-1 control plane.

Are you a Python user looking to level up by learning SQL? Check out the tutorial video on how to get started with SQL in Python. The video shows an important step required for installing the popular postgres package, psycopg2 (spoiler: We require the binary installer).
